Soft delete posts

It seems that once you delete a post it’s lost forever. Is it possible to add a soft delete option or a confirmation prompt when deleting to make sure that I want to delete a post? I clicked delete on a post by accident on one of my forums instead of react 😛

PopFuse – Your hub for movies, TV shows, music, gaming, celebrities, and pop culture.

Well I mean, reactions are left and delete is in a menu on the right for a reason, not random. 😉

But I’ll add a record of deleted items in the ModCP to restore accidentally deleted posts.

I’m afraid your current deleted post is just lost at the moment though.

The delete button is right next to react in posts.

I read mobile, haven’t had coffee. Dunno where that came from. 🤷‍♂️ But yes, I’ll address this in the next release. Thanks.

In 2.1 deleting posts will improved. All actions are permissions that you can define per usergroup.

Hide: Hides a post in a topic for guests and members.

Soft delete: Deletes a post in a topic but is restorable in the Moderation CP.

Hard delete: Deletes a post without the ability to restore.

The “Delete” button will be inside a menu which opens up a modal. Making sure you can no longer accidentally delete a post.

I was just thinking of suggesting there be a way to hide topics or posts from certain groups, like for instance, you want certain content be visible only for members and not guests, Will you be able to do that?

In regards to the post above yours, the hiding feature isn't really intended for hiding content from specific groups.

To clarify, hiding a post makes it invisible to regular members and guests, while staff can still see it. You could technically allow premium members, for example, to view hidden posts as well, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I think there are better ways to make content available to specific groups. The simplest approach would be to create dedicated forums and configure their permissions to control which groups can access them.
