Themes & Extensions Forum Confusion

I’ve seen a couple of users confused by v1 and v2 theme and extension uses. I recommend either adding labels for v1/v2 themes and extensions or creating a subforum for v1 themes and extensions, while keeping all the latest-version resources in the main forum.

I think this is a great idea!

I think the latter with subforums would work better and help keep things from getting too cluttered.

I would much prefer to slowly transition out V1, but realize that may take longer as I hope. Which is okay. But I agree that we should still make it more clear. I’ll have a thought about this and see what we can do. 🙂

If v1 is phased out, doesn’t that mean the software will be paid-only?

V1 can opt to stay on V1 but no new forums can be V1 so very few V1 forums will exist going forward.

That is correct. Eventually, V1 will be phased out. There’s some existing communities which are perfectly fine to stay that way. A few tests boards that will eventually be removed once they reach their 1 year inactivity. But it’s perfectly possible we’ll still see a few V1 boards in a couple of years. Like I said, it’s fine if it is that way, but themes and extensions are not a priority for V1.

I’m not @Cedric but I can answer this! No, it will not. You can choose to stay on the free V1 and not upgrade to the paid V2.

Yes, you’re free to be free 🙂 You won’t have any of the updates though because that will go toward the premium versions, as the concentration will be on 2.0 and higher. If you choose to upgrade to 2.0, you will not be able to convert back to the free 1.0 version. But the 2.0 has so many new features that I wouldn’t ever want to go back to 1.0.
