As a forum owner, I’m sure you know and realize that you have to also be a marketer to get your forum out there enough to grow.

The question is: Do you like marketing enough to make it work for you?

If you don’t like it, you’re likely not going to dedicate enough effort to making it work. Things will fail, and you will feel like a failure and thus give up more easily.

So, are you into marketing enough to make it work?

I hate marketing myself. And that’s with anything, not just forums. I used to do portraits and sold them online and it was a pain to get my name out there. I even “hired” someone to manage me and told them they’d get 50% of the profits…but not one sale came of it.

Being in someone’s face is one key to marketing. It takes some time for people to actually “see” the ad even though it pops up in their feed, and then it takes even more before they will investigate. Back in the 90s the saying was that it took 28 times before getting the deal to go through. I don’t know if that’s true now, but it probably makes sense.

I don’t like it either. Also nowadays, i think with ads everywhere, people grow tired of them, they either block them or ignore them, and sometimes ads can have the opposite effect too. But starting out especially, it’s tough, you want the right people to know you exist, its always been difficult for me, i’m not particularly good at that kinda stuff.
