1,000 Posts — and a New Chapter for the Foundation

We just passed 1,000 posts at the Monetary Literacy & Mastery Foundation.

That number represents far more than a forum statistic. It represents questions asked, ideas challenged, lessons discussed, sources shared, research examined, and people taking the time to better understand the monetary system we all live within.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed, read along, asked questions, shared research, or helped shape the community. MLMF has grown considerably since we started, and reaching 1,000 posts feels like a good moment to show just how much has changed.

A Completely New Homepage

The Foundation now has a redesigned homepage built around a much clearer purpose:

Help people see the system behind their money.

The new homepage brings together the Academy, interactive learning, community discussions, featured research, monetary concepts, and the wider mission of the Foundation in one place.

It also better reflects what MLMF has become. This is no longer simply a collection of lessons. It is developing into a full monetary-education platform where you can learn the system, investigate it, experiment with it, research it, and discuss it.

A Lot Has Been Added

Over the past several months, we have been steadily expanding the Foundation with new tools, reference material, and ways to learn. Some of the newest and most important additions include:

  • Counterparty Risk Map — trace what you actually own, who you depend on, what protections exist, and what can happen under financial stress across bank deposits, securities, cash, and precious metals.

  • Teaching Resources — material for educators, homeschool families, and independent learners who want to introduce monetary concepts in a structured way.

  • Inflation & Purchasing Power Calculator — explore inflation through more than a headline percentage and see what changing prices mean for the actual purchasing power of currency.

  • Interactive Monetary Simulators — experiment with bank credit creation, the Cantillon Effect, debt, inflation, and monetary distribution instead of only reading about them.

  • Research Directory — a growing collection of institutions, publications, websites, podcasts, and other sources for continuing your own research.

  • Monetary Glossary — a reference library for the terminology, institutions, and concepts that appear throughout the Academy.

  • Expanded Resource Center — bringing the Foundation's tools, maps, calculators, research sources, and teaching materials together in one place.

  • Improved Academy & Learning Path — a clearer progression through the curriculum, documentaries, reading, and extended study.

One of the goals behind all of these additions is simple: monetary education should not stop at reading an article and memorizing a definition.

You should be able to examine a balance sheet. Trace an ownership chain. Change variables in a simulation. Compare purchasing power. Follow newly created currency through the economy. Investigate sources. Challenge assumptions. Then bring what you find back to the community for discussion.

What Comes Next

There is still a great deal more planned.

We want to continue expanding the Academy, adding interactive educational experiences, improving our research and reference material, developing teaching resources, and creating tools that make difficult monetary concepts easier to see and understand.

And the community remains an important part of that.

A lesson can explain an idea.

A simulator can demonstrate it.

Research can provide evidence.

But discussion is where people question it, test it, disagree with it, refine it, and ultimately decide what they think for themselves.

That is the kind of community we want MLMF to continue becoming.

1,000 posts is a milestone. It is not the finish line.

Thank you to everyone who helped us get here.

Learn. Investigate. Understand.

Congratulations! That’s a big achievement.

Introducing Study Tools: Notes and Learning Progress for MLMF Members

Learning is easier when you can keep track of what you are studying, save important thoughts, and return to where you left off.

That is why we have introduced a new Study Tools feature for logged-in members of the Monetary Literacy & Mastery Foundation.

Available from the bottom-left corner of the site, Study Tools provides a persistent personal workspace that follows you as you move throughout the Foundation.

Study Notes

The Notes tab gives members a simple place to record ideas, questions, definitions, observations, and research references while studying.

Your notes remain available as you move between lessons, glossary entries, Extended Studies papers, discussions, and other pages across the site.

You can also use Current Page to automatically add the title and URL of the page you are viewing to your notes, making it easier to remember where an idea or reference came from.

Study Notes also includes:

  • Automatic saving

  • Character count

  • Current-page references

  • Text export

  • Persistent notes across page changes and browser sessions

Notes are stored locally in your browser, meaning they remain private to that browser and are not currently synchronized between devices.

Track Your Learning Progress

The new Progress tab gives members a simple way to keep track of their advancement through the Academy.

Each lesson can be manually marked as:

○ Not Started

◐ In Progress

✓ Complete

Progress is deliberately controlled by the learner.

Simply opening a lesson does not automatically mean that you have begun studying it—or that you have completed it. You decide when a lesson moves from one stage to the next.

The Study Tools panel then calculates your overall progress and shows how many lessons you have completed within each section.

For example, members can see their advancement through:

Monetary Policy

Banking Fundamentals

Securities Markets

As the Academy continues to expand, the progress system can grow alongside it.

Continue Where You Left Off

Study Tools also includes a Continue Learning section.

If you have a lesson marked In Progress, Study Tools can surface that lesson so you can quickly return to your studies.

If nothing is currently in progress, the system can point you toward the next lesson that has not yet been completed.

The goal is simple: make it easier to step away from the Academy and return later without losing your place.

Designed for Independent Learning

The Monetary Literacy & Mastery Foundation is built around structured learning without forcing members through a rigid course system.

Study Tools follows that same philosophy.

There are no points to collect, artificial streaks to maintain, or leaderboards to compete on.

Your progress belongs to you.

The purpose of the feature is simply to help you organize your learning, remember important ideas, and develop a clearer picture of what you have studied.

Where to Find It

Logged-in members will find the Study Tools button in the bottom-left corner of the site.

Open it at any time to switch between:

Notes

and

Progress

Because the tool remains available throughout the site, your personal study workspace is always close by whether you are reading a lesson, exploring the glossary, reviewing research, or participating in a discussion.

More to Come

Study Tools gives us a foundation for additional member learning features in the future.

Possible additions include saved lessons and bookmarks, recently viewed material, additional progress tracking, and other tools designed to make the Foundation easier to use as a long-term educational resource.

For now, we encourage members to begin using Study Notes and Learning Progress as they work through the Academy.

The goal is not simply to read more.

It is to learn deliberately, keep track of what you understand, identify what still needs study, and build lasting monetary literacy one concept at a time.

New features have come to MLMF!

We’ve been working on more stuff!

New at MLMF: Study Smarter, Explore Deeper, Take the Chair

The Monetary Literacy & Mastery Foundation is continuing to expand with new tools and experiences designed to make learning more organized, interactive, and engaging.

Three major additions are now available: new study tools, the Special Studies collection, and the Central Bank Chair strategy game.

New Study Tools: Notes & Progress Markers

Learning works better when you can keep track of what matters.

MLMF now includes new study tools designed to help you actively work through the curriculum rather than simply read it.

The Note Pad gives you a convenient place to record important ideas, questions, definitions, and observations as you move through the Academy.

See something you want to remember? Write it down.

Find an argument you want to investigate later? Save the thought.

Want to summarize a lesson in your own words? Keep your notes alongside your studies.

Progress Markers make it easier to keep track of where you are in the curriculum. Mark lessons as you work through them and return later without wondering where you left off.

Together, these tools make MLMF feel less like a collection of pages and more like your own working study environment.

Introducing Special Studies

Not every important subject fits neatly into a traditional lesson or research paper.

Special Studies is a new collection for MLMF's larger standalone investigations, interactive historical resources, and deeper examinations of monetary questions.

The collection currently includes:

The Monetary Record
Explore more than two thousand years of monetary history, including currencies, banking institutions, monetary reforms, crises, debasement, central banking, and changing monetary regimes.

When Currency Fails
Examine how fiscal pressure, monetary expansion, inflation, political instability, declining confidence, and currency substitution can contribute to monetary breakdown.

Myth vs. Reality
Take familiar claims about money, banking, inflation, and monetary institutions and compare them with historical evidence, institutional structure, and competing interpretations.

Take the Chair: A New Monetary Strategy Game

Reading about monetary policy is one thing.

Having to make the decisions yourself is something else entirely.

Central Bank Chair puts you in control of monetary policy over a five-year period.

You must respond to changing conditions involving inflation, unemployment, economic growth, financial markets, government financing pressures, public confidence, and social stability.

You will decide whether to:

  • raise, hold, or cut interest rates

  • purchase bonds

  • expand monetary support

  • respond to economic shocks

  • deal with financial instability

  • manage credibility

  • consider the distributional consequences of policy

But every choice has consequences.

Policy changes may take time to work. A decision that helps one part of the economy may hurt another. Financial markets can stabilize while household purchasing power deteriorates. Government financing conditions can improve while public frustration rises.

The game also introduces the Cantillon Effect, showing how the consequences of new money can depend on who receives it first.

Your objective is not simply to make one number look good.

It is to survive the pressures of the entire system.

A More Interactive Way to Learn

MLMF is being built around more than passive reading.

The Academy provides the foundation.

The Note Pad helps you capture what you learn.

Progress Markers help you track where you've been.

Special Studies let you investigate important questions more deeply.

Central Bank Chair lets you experience monetary-policy tradeoffs for yourself.

Learn the concepts.
Keep your own record.
Track your progress.
Explore the evidence.
Then put your understanding to the test.

Understand the system you live within.

Thank you! And we're always trying to come up with new ideas for better understanding and education. In a few months I'd imagine what you see now will feel like a beta version. 😆

And I'll use this post to announce the new knowledge navigator! It ties all of the lessons, concepts, glossary, and utilities into one.

As the Monetary Literacy & Mastery Foundation has grown, so has the amount of material available to explore. MLMF now includes structured lessons, glossary entries, Extended Studies, interactive tools, documentaries, Essential Reading, assessments, and Special Studies.

That creates a simple challenge: how do you quickly find the material that answers the question you actually have?

The new MLMF Knowledge Navigator was built for exactly that.

Instead of digging through menus or trying to remember where a lesson or article is located, members can begin with a question, subject, or concept and search the Foundation’s educational library directly.
