Custom Emoticons

I’d like to suggest an option to allow custom emoticons appear in the Emoji section of the editor with the default Emojis, instead of only having the separate picker. I think it’s possibly confusing to someone who doesn’t realize there is two sections for Emojis.

I’ll be quite honest, I’ve been thinking of removing the custom emoticons. I see that most communities just use the emoji picker.

Personally, i think it’s in part because the Custom Emoticon picker looks out of place, and feels kinda tacked on. I think If there was a section within the standard Emoji Picker for Custom Emoticons it would be better integrated and more useful IMHO.

You always have to be careful with custom icons, especially when folks add ones they found online that could be protected by copyright.

That would be my biggest concern.

True and really anything can be abused in the wrong hands but custom emoticons is something that basically every forum software I’ve ever used over the years, had and even most chat software from Discord, to going way back to the old instant messenger days, had. i think its a useful feature, that helps communities feel unique and its worth keeping, as i said i think it just needs to be better integrated with the emoji picker / editor.

I’d like smileys to be easier to upload…as it is it’s such a faff…. and they dont appear in the drop down box in the box which is weird… with my current forum you upload via the file manager…copy the code..go to the smiley section…paste the code and job done..easy… ..I have lots of smileys I get from proper smiley sites like sherv.net and a few others…
